In the two upcoming sequels he becomes a 'rebel filmmaker', creating propaganda videos starring Katniss as a 'Mockingjay' for Panem. It is unclear how the studio will approach Hoffman's un-shot scenes.

The Oscar winner was also scheduled to star in a 10-episode Showtime comedy series tilted 'Happyish," where he stars as Tom Payne, a successful creative director at a New York ad agency who feels contempt towards himself. Payne tries to discover his purpose in today's culture as he begins to feel irrelevant.

Showtime issued the following statement (via Deadline), addressing the death of Hoffman: "Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of our generation's finest and most brilliant actors. He was also a gifted comedic talent. It was a great privilege and pleasure to work with him and we are all absolutely devastated by this sudden loss. Our thoughts go out to his family at this very difficult time."
