We’ve got to admit The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies certainly sounds a lot more climactic than The Hobbit: There and Back Again. The producers seem to agree as well, considering they have officially changed the name of the movie. It’s even been changed on IMDb so you know that they mean business.  It's pretty apt to change the movie’s title to include a reference to the titular action of the final installment. There and Back Again just seemed like too safe a title to bring to an end Peter Jackson’s 13 year bid to recreate the world of J.R.R. Tolkein.

Unlike it’s previous title, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, gives a lot more away about what could potentially happen in the final film. For those who haven’t read the books it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that there will be a battle. Between five armies. Not a major spoiler, but certainly a lot more telling than There and Back Again.

Jackson took to Facebook to explain, “There and Back Again felt like the right name for the second of a two film telling of the quest to reclaim Erebor, when Bilbo’s arrival there, and departure, were both contained within the second film. But with three movies, it suddenly felt misplaced - after all, Bilbo has already arrived “there” in the Desolation of Smaug.” Well, that clears that up.  Solid move, Peter, we'd have done the same thing.

So, what can we expect from The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies?

The battle in question is fought between the Wargs and Goblins against the Men of Dale, Elves, Dwarves, Eagles and a Shape-shifter. So technically it’s seven seperate armies, except there’s only one rep from the shape-shifter contingency. We’re going to take a stab in the dark that the shape-shifter is Beorn, seeing as we met him in the second instalment of The Hobbit trilogy.

Something’s gotta happen with Bard the Bowman and that arrow. We’ve got a pretty good idea of what it is, although for those who are genuinely clueless we’ll say this. There and BACK AGAIN. Smaug ain’t lettin' NOBODY go back again at the end of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, so it seems like Bard and the black arrow have a job to be getting on with.

Return of the King?

Thorin Oakenshield has been dying to get back the Arkenstone, will he manage to finally get his hands on his family’s heirloom? There’s definitely something in store for Thorin, we’re just not sure what it is just yet.  (HINT: cuckoo! cuckoo!)
