Peter Dinklage, the American actor best known for starring as Tyrion Glennister in HBO's Game of Thrones, has signed on to play a crafty bounty hunter in the period crime drama The Thicket.

Dinklage will play Shorty, a grave-digging alcoholic son of an ex-slave and street-smart prostitute who's enlisted to find a woman who has been kidnapped in East Texas by a violent killer at the turn of the 20th century. He and fellow hunters venture into the deadly no-man's land known as the Big Thicket, a play where "blood and chaos reign".

The movie is being produced by Dinklage, his manager David Ginsberg and Gianna Nunnari's Hollywood Gang.

"That Joe Lansdale's dark vision will be brought to life by the brilliantly talented Peter Dinklage starring as Shorty - it is a dream of mine," said Nunnari. "This is the kind of original movie with edge and style that Hollywood Gang is hungry for; luckily we found all these things in The Thicket. We cannot wait to share this movie with audiences around the world."

Nunnari is a big-time producer and has worked on thriller Se7en and action-epic 300. He's currently developing the historical epic Napoleon and Blood In, Blood Out.

As for Dinklage, he's currently shooting the comedy sci-fi Pixels, about video game experts recruited by the military to fight 1980s-era video game characters who have attacked New York. Chris Columbus directs, with Michelle Monaghan and Adam Sandler starring. The movie - which sounds interesting to say the least - hits on July 24, 2015.
