Grunge band Pearl Jam are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by David Letterman.
Nineties grunge legends Pearl Jam were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this week at the 32nd Annual Induction Ceremony, more than 25 years after the release of their debut album 'Ten' which means this is their first year of eligibility.

It was talk show veteran David Letterman who inducted the group on Friday night (April 7th 2017), with Neil Young being forced to back out due to an unspecified illness. The band had performed at the Ed Sullivan Theatre seven times while Letterman hosted 'The Late Show', so it's safe to say they know each other well.

The band's first and only album has been re-mixed and re-mastered.
A 25th anniversary edition of Seattle supergroup Temple Of The Dog's self-titled debut album has been released today (September 30th 2016). The new collection pays tribute to their 1991 album, which also happens to be the only album they ever released. They are also due to tour the US this Fall.
Temple Of The Dog re-release their first album
Re-visit grunge masterpiece 'Temple Of The Dog' this year as the band of the same name celebrate their work 25 years later. The band is a collaboration between Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready (and, occasionally, Eddie Vedder) from Pearl Jam. The group also included drummer Matt Cameron, who's known for playing in both bands. The new version of the record has been mixed by Grammy winning producer Brendan O'Brien, who has also worked with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam in the past.
This year will be one to remember.
This year marks a very special year for the Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival as it prepares to celebrate '15 Years of Magic'; an anniversary that will see more than 150 acts including an exciting headline performance from Seattle grunge band Pearl Jam and the re-united LCD Soundsystem.
In June 2016, this legendary music event will return to Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee for its 15th anniversary, celebrating a successful run of all-hours entertainment which began in 2002. It's a four day event that will see a multitude of bands, musicians and comedians performing over 12 stages. It will be a thrill to see Pearl Jam return three years since the release of their number one album 'Lightning Bolt', while LCD Soundsystem - who parted ways in 2011 - have re-teamed for not only another festival run (they are also playing Coachella), but another album too.

The legendary music scene of Seattle is visited ahead of Budweiser Made in America festival.
Nirvana remains to be one of the best things to come out of Seattle
Seattle has one of the most legendary music scenes in America so it's only right that we delve into their record collection as Budweiser Made in America festival quickly approaches.
Budweiser Made in America is all for musical diversity, celebrating the different subcultures of sound in all cities be it the country twang of Nashville, the superstar pop of LA or the Motown domination of Detroit. That's why Budweiser have put their heads together to release this series of nationwide music documentaries ahead of the festival, to cement that important ideology of variation and musical freedom.
Pearl Jam, Let It Go, Frozen. Enough said.
Seattle rockers Pearl Jam covered the smash hit Disney track ‘Let It Go’ from Frozen during a gig a Milan’s Stadio San Siro on Friday night (June 20, 2014). The band played their own take of the song during an extended version of their own track ‘Daughter’.
Pearl Jam covered 'Let It Go' From 'Frozen'
Originally recorded by Broadway star Idina Menzel, who voices Queen Elsa in the animated movie. Since it’s release last year, Frozen has become the highest grossing animation of all time and the fifth highest grossing movie of all time. It follows fearless optimist Anna who teams up with Kristoff in an epic journey in Everest-like conditions to find Anna’s sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter. Oh, and a snow named Olaf is along for the ride.

Made in America Festival is an annual music event founded by rapper and businessman Jay-Z in 2012. Following its inaugural year, it was announced to take place in Los Angeles for the later events and its arrival has since become an important symbol of unity. Jay-Z created the festival in a bid to join together musicians of all genres, creeds and cultures to emphasise the bond between music-lovers regardless of any animosity that may have existed between hip hop artists, rock artists and pop artists in the past. It is an attempt to build a world of peace and diversity because, in the words of Run DMC star Darryl McDaniels, 'Music succeeds where politics and religion fail'.
'Made In America' is a music documentary based on the new festival of the same name founded by Jay-Z who is also the movie's executive producer. It has been directed by double Oscar winner Ron Howard ('The Da Vinci Code', 'Apollo 13', 'Rush', 'A Beautiful Mind') and features behind-the-scenes clips and interviews of various music superstars including Run DMC, Rita Ora, Kanye West, Janelle Monáe, Tyler The Creator, Skrillex, Santigold and The Hives. The film premiered at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and was nominated for 'Outstanding Television Documentary' at the Black Reel Awards.
Made In America is available on VOD and DVD 19 May 2014

On a lesser note, last week also happened to be the lowest selling week for albums in total since records began in 1991
Katy Perry is back on top, once again enjoying the view from the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 Chart. Her new album, Prism, isn't just Perry's second number one album though, it also carries the distinction of being the highest selling album of the year, from a female entertainer.
Perry scored her second number one with Prism
This is according to the result compiled by Nielsen in the week ending Sunday, 27 October, published by Billboard. Perry's immediate success overshadows Miley Cyrus' success with Bangerz, which previous held the top selling female artist distinction. Whilst Bangers scored a cool 270,000 sales at the first attempt at the beginning of the month, Prism managed to sell 286,000 copies in the first week. With 339,000 copies sold in the first week, only Daft Punk's Random Access Memoires has sold more records in it's debut week in 2013, and we still have two months worth of competition to look forward to.
The US rockers shredded the competition.which included Paul McCartney's 'New.'
Pearl Jam's latest album Lightning Bolt has seen such strong sales in the US that they've been powered to the top of the Billboard 200 chart with sales 166,000 copies sold in its first week, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan, via Reuters.
Pearl Jam Helped Rock Triumph Over Pop In The Charts.
The Seattle rockers saw off fierce competition from pop star Miley Cyrus with Bangerz and its 72,000 sales and former Beatle Paul McCartney with 67,000 copies sold of his new album, New. This marks Pearl Jam's fifth number one album after Backspacer (2009), No Code (1996), Vitalogy (1994) and Vs. (1993). However, Lightning Bolt has failed to outperform or even match the sales of their last album, Backspacer, which sold 189,000 copies in its first frame.

Pearl Jam beat Paul McCartney to the Billboard 200 album chart top spot with 'Lightning Bolt'.
Their 10th studio album ‘Lighting Bolt’ reached the chart summit after selling 166,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The Seattle natives first reached the top spot in 1993 with their second studio album, ‘Vs’. They then repeated this success the following year with ‘Vitalogy’ (1994), then with ‘No Code’ in 1996 and their last No.1 album was 2009’s ‘Backspacer’.
Pearl Jam have struck us with a new album, we digest the reviews.
Rockers Pearl Jam have finally released their first album in four years, 22 years after their debut album Ten was released in 1991. Such a remarkable decade-spanning career in alternative rock is admirable, not to mention not losing any members, not selling out, and no major inter-band fight implosions.
Eddie Vedder's Back After His Ukulele Break.
The first single from Lightning Bolt, 'Mind Your Manners,' was released in July and brought three-minute, full-thrash and sing-along punk under a fast and shouty tirade from lead singer Eddie Vedder about religion. The song provides contrast against the more 80s power ballad stylings of 'Siren' and the REM 90s rock nods of 'Swallowed Whole.'

The grunge icons will kick off their tour of the continent on October 11 in Pittsburgh and finish in their hometown of Seattle on December 6
Pearl Jam left an enigmatic Tweet on their official Twitter page on July 1 saying only "the count is on," with no reference at all to what this countdown was in aid of. On Monday (July 8), exactly one week and two tweets later, we finally found out what this mysterious countdown was in reference to; the band's return to the road with a 24-date tour of North America (check out the full list at the bottom of the page).
Eddie Vedder and co. might have a new album on the way too
The band took to their Twitter page once again to announce the news that they are hitting the road, uploading the details to the tour as well as a YouTube video that shows the band performing live over a soundtrack of ominous music, with the list of dates following the footage. The tour will begin on October 11 at the Consol Energy Center, Pittsburgh, PA, and run through until December 6 when the band play a homecoming show at the Key Arena, Seattle, WA.

Pearl Jam will play a huge show at Wrigley Field, Chicago, on July 19, the legendary rock band confirmed on their Twitter page this morning. The group, fronted by Eddie Vedder - a lifelong Cubs fan - said, "IT'S OFFICIAL: Pearl Jam will be playing at Wrigley Field. Will you be there?"
Die-hard Pearl Jam fans appear to be in for a treat, with the band announcing there will no opening act. It seems the concert - titled An Evening With Pearl Jam - will be a career-spanning set of the band's greatest hits. In all honestly, the gig is just about the worst kept secret in Chicago, with neither Pearl Jam nor the Cubs being particularly subtle about the possibility of the iconic band playing Wrigley Field. On Tuesday afternoon (January 22, 2013), both tweeted pictures of the baseball field with a full concert set up. The Cubs later sent out a tweet that included 'Ten' - the name of Pearl Jam's classic debut album - and a "stay tuned" hashtag.
Tickets for the Wrigley Field show will go on sale on February 9, 2013, at 10.am, according to Live Nation. Fans should head to www.tickets.com or by calling 1-800-THE-CUBS. No tickets will be available at the baseball field's box office.

The Mighty Pearl Jam have been celebrating their twentieth anniversary in a big way this year. Where some bands are content to do a celebratory jaunt of the touring circuit or simply put out a best of, Pearl Jam have not just stepped up to the plate as far as the festivities are concerned, they have in fact torn up and re-written the book on one-up-man-ship. So far this year, they have given us reissues of their first three albums accompanied by rare bootleg concerts, a live album (Live on Ten Legs), headlined their own destination-weekend-festival-thing which saw them playing sets above such rock heavy-weights as The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age and their buddies from way back in Seattle; Mudhoney. As if that wasn't enough, they've topped it off with a two hour long Cameron Crowe directed documentary (available on DVD and Blu-ray from their website at the end of October in a 3 disc special edition with 4 hours of exclusive extras; yes, FOUR HOURS), an accompanying book, and this, the soundtrack to the film, also compiled by Cameron Crowe. And like the mugs they all are, the fans of Pearl Jam have lapped all this up somehow or another, probably by neglecting their wives and girlfriends, selling their children and re-mortgaging their homes.
