Music star Paul Weller appreciates all of the success he's managed to achieve.
Paul Weller feels "lucky" to have been so successful.
The 66-year-old music star has achieved a huge amount of success during the course of his career, and Paul has insisted that he never takes it for granted.
He told the Observer newspaper: "I’m so lucky to be able to do what I do."
What's more, Paul suggested that when he does die, he won't have any regrets about his career.
The music icon shared: "If the universe took me tomorrow, which hopefully it won’t, but if it did, I couldn’t really complain."
Paul has been sober for the last 14 years, and he admits that it's transformed his life.
He explained: "A lot of the demons I thought were there just disappeared once I stopped drinking. So perhaps they were all in that bottle. All imagined. A little safety blanket."
Paul still relishes the experience of performing live. However, the veteran star doesn't doesn't really enjoy arena gigs.
He explained: "It’s a night out for a lot of people, isn’t it? Their one big night out. And that’s when it becomes a show, not about the music. It’s really hard to make contact and I’m not cut out for that. It’s not like I’m crowd surfing or putting the mic up for the crowd to sing lalala and all that."
Paul has performed at various festivals over the years. But the 'Soul Wandering' hitmaker would never attend a festival as a fan.
He said: "I’ve only been at festivals when they pay me.
"They wouldn’t entice me otherwise. Stand in a field of mud and s*** for hours, off my face? Doesn’t appeal to me. Call me old-fashioned. I just like a roof on it."
