The former Grey's Anatomy star and his Dempsey-Proton Porsche 911 RSR team took a place at the podium in the GTE Amateur category, finishing behind the Scuderia Corsa Ferrari team.

The 2015 event marked the fourth time Dempsey has competed in the race, but the first time he has placed in the top three.

Following the triumphant finish, Dempsey told reporters, "I think it's hard to put into words how much it means to be on the podium in Le Mans. Phenomenal effort and support from Porsche... It's an amazing accomplishment; you always dream about moments like this. I've worked really hard over the last three years to make this happen and I'm here. Vive la France!"

In 2013, Dempsey produced a four-part documentary series called Road to Le Mans, detailing his involvement in the endurance competition.
