Hotly tipped new soul talent, Vanessa Brown releases her debut single ‘Whipped’ on September 19th through A&M/Polydor records.

21 year old Northampton girl, Vanessa has already been causing a stir in the States before the release of her first record in the UK.

Two years ago Vanessa gave up her place at Oxford to study law when she was offered a deal with A&M records in the US and Polydor in the UK. She relocated to Los Angeles where she spent the last 18 months working on her debut album ‘Back To The Music’ with musicians who have worked with the likes of Earth Wind and Fire, Joni Mitchell and Whitney Houston.

‘Back To The Music’ which will be released in the UK in 2006 was executive produced by Ron Fair – the man who discovered Christina Aguilera and turned Black Eyed Peas into multi-million sellers by A&Ring their Elephunk album. Vanessa wrote almost every track on the album. Some were written in Northampton when she was still a pre-teen. The hook for standout track ‘Nobody Loves Me’ was written when Vanessa was just 11 – it was recorded in West Hollywood a decade later.

Last month Vanessa performed to a packed crowd in LA’s Mint Club where she showcased songs from ‘Back To The Music’ to the US music industry.
