JETPLANE LANDING MAKE MUSIC VIDEO IN THREE MINUTES
Anglo-Irish art punks jetplane landing release their video for 'Acrimony' - the title track from the intriguingly titled 'Els Quatre Gats EP' with a ground-breaking music video - shot using 6o cameras in a single take.
Lead singer Andrew Ferris explains, 'our idea was to try and make the clip as close to the jetplane landing live experience as possible. Doing it in one go is more honest with the audience, and it doesn't give you the time to be self-conscious about the process.'
By attaching digital cameras to their bodies and instruments, the quartet in effect, filmed the promo themselves. '... our little joke, 'how do it yourself can you actually be?' Not having anyone else in the room while we filmed, meant that there was no way of knowing how it would turn out until we watched the footage back in the editing suite. It was a great surprise - when we saw that it actually worked!'
Filmed simultaneously on over sixty digital cameras - the band's co-conspirators were production company - Native Productions. Andrew continues, 'the idea should have been a logistical nightmare - but we had some brilliant technical advice and a great team of volunteers who really wanted to see it happen.'
And were there any disasters in trying to make the quickest music promo ever conceived? 'Well we did smash two of the hired digi-cams, one was attached to Raife's drumstick and the other to my mic stand, which went airborne at one point!'
Collateral damage in a just war - jetplane landing's 'Acrimony' is on your screens now.
