A representative for Oscar De La Renta has dismissed reports the fashion designer is retiring due to deteriorating health, insisting he completes a "full work day every day".
The 78 year old recently underwent hip replacement surgery, prompting rumours he would give up his post as head of the fashion house and speculation of De la Renta's resignation mounted after new designers were hired at the label.
But a spokesperson is adamant the Dominican designer, a favourite with Sarah Jessica Parker and Demi Moore, has no plans to retire just yet.
The rep tells the New York Post's Page Six gossip column, "Oscar happily is enjoying excellent health. He's putting in a full work day every day. Any new hires have nothing to do with the design process, and there is no plan whatsoever to even think of replacing him as the creative head."
