Tonight’s the night, ladies and gentlemen – the night One Direction take Leicester Square (and really, the world) by storm with the unveiling of their movie, One Direction: This Is Us.

The lads arrived tonight to celebrate the movie's anticipated release.

The movie premieres tonight at Odeon in Trafalgar Square and will hit theatres across Europe and the US within the following weeks. The thousands of fans that are lining up and getting their personal space invaded in tightly packed crowds tonight are not an unusual sight for Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayne Malik, Liam Payne and Harry Styles.

The band's rise to fame has been unstoppable.

The lads have only recently returned home from their world tour, where crowds of Beetle Mania proportions and noise levels have marked every single performance. They’ve topped singles and album charts on both sides of the Atlantic in the past two years or so. Among their successes is the title of first UK band to debut at the top of the Billboard chart.

The lads have spent hours on the red carpet, greeting fans.

And now they’re getting their own movie. The film, made by Supersize Me director Morgan Spurlock is only the latest part of the One Direction frenzy that has overtaken tweens – and not only – since the band was first formed during The X Factor.

The media frenzy has been going on pretty much since the band's formation.

It is essentially a biopic, tracking the band’s “meteoric rise to fame,” from their humble beginnings not-so-long ago, to worldwide success. Simon Cowell – the man who made it all happen - must be one happy camper tonight.
