The five youthful members of One Direction are rich men – no surprises there. Apparently Harry, Liam, Louis, Zayn and Niall have made so much money over the course of their three years as an international pop sensation that they, as an entity, have topped Heat magazine’s list of richest British celebrities under 30. With combined earnings of £59 million, the pop heartthrobs left behind people like Daniel Radcliffe (for whom this is the first time off the throne since the list’s 2010 launch,) as well as music producer Calvin Harris, despite the DJ’s career blowing up over the past two years.

Radcliffe takes second place with £56.19 million, which is still quite a respectable figure. But the list wasn’t compiled based solely on monetary value. Like Forbes annual lists of the “world’s richest insert-occupation-here,” Heat take into consideration various factors, such as at record sales, film and television earnings and product endorsements.

The chart makes one thing abundantly clear however – teenagers and young adults are a marketing segment to be reckoned with. Some celebrities, who apparently fail to appeal to this demo anymore, include Paulo Nutini, Jamie Bell, Natasha Bedingfield and Sienna Miller, who all dropped out of the list this year. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson (£44.2 million,) Keira Knightley (£37.3 million) and Emma Watson (£27.9 million) round out the top 5 of the richest 30 under 30.
