One Direction Have Played The Final Show Of Their Mammoth World Tour Before They Take A Break From The Band Next Year (16).
After more than 80 shows across 20 countries, the band's fourth global trek, titled On The Road Again, came to an end in the U.K on Saturday night (31Oct15).
"Happy Halloween everyone...! have a good day. Really excited about the show tonight.. gona (sic) be a big one!" Niall Horan wrote before the band's finale at Sheffield Arena in England.
On stage, Harry Styles told the crowd that One Direction had been together for "five years, four months, two weeks and a couple of days", while Niall added, "I still can't believe this. I remember five years ago when this all started. Our first gig was a little nightclub in Scotland."
The boys performed hits including Best Song Ever, Little Things and No Control, and thanked their fans, friends and family for all their unwavering support.
After having to apologise to his mother for swearing onstage, Liam Payne was further embarrassed when his father started a spontaneous conga line through the arena.
Emotions ran high as the night came to a close, and many fans were surprised that no mention of Zayn Malik was made after his shock departure from the boyband in March this year (15).
On Sunday (01Nov15), the band's label boss Simon Cowell wrote on Twitter.com, "Five incredible years. And it was all down to you and the fans. Enjoy the break boys. You deserve it..."
In a short video on One Direction's Twitter account on Sunday, Louis Tomlinson said, "We just want to say a massive thank you to every single fan who's come to watch us on tour. We love you, and you have made this tour for us. So, thank you." Harry, Niall and Liam, who don't speak in the short clip, then nod at the camera, and put their thumbs up.
Until their extended break in March, the boys will only have a handful of appearances to contend with, including performances at the American Music Awards on 22 November (15), and the BBC Music Awards on 10 December (15). Their fifth album, Made in the A.M., is due out on 13 November (15).
