The ‘X-Factor’ judges have been given their categories for this year, with Simon Cowell mentoring the Over-25s for the second year in a row. The ITV talent show suffered a huge drop in ratings on Saturday night and claims that girlband Fourth Power weren't amateurs.
‘The X-Factor’ returned to UK screens on ITV, Saturday night (August 29th), with a revamped judging panel which doesn't seem to have proved a hit with viewers. The talent show scored a record low rating for it’s series premiere, as well as fan backlash over a girl group who have already released records.
According to The Mirror, the revamped show only brought in 7.11m viewers, a drop of nearly two million from last year's launch show. The numbers are the lowest ever launch ratings for the show, since 2012 when 8.62m tuned in.
Is ‘The Voice’ coach Rita Ora the safest bet for the next ‘X-Factor’ judge?
With rumours rife that Rita Ora is about to jump ship from ‘The Voice’ to ‘The X-Factor’, the singer has been given a shining endorsement from one half of the show’s new hosting duo, Olly Murs. Murs will be hosting the talent show’s new season alongside presenter Caroline Flack, but before it gets underway there’s the little matter of who will be joining the judging panel to sort out.
Rita Ora is hotly tipped to become the next ‘X-Factor’ judge.
Ora has become the hot contender to replace Mel B on the panel even though she’ll be coming straight from rival talent show BBC One's ‘The Voice’. Speaking to The Mirror during Capital's Summertime Ball, Murs addressed the rumours that Rita was about to sign on for the new series saying, "I'll be honest. I think Rita would be a good one because she's done The Voice.”
Liam Payne has reassured fans that he and the boys are not going anywhere following Zayn Malik's exit.
"Let's go crazy, crazy, crazy..." because Liam Payne says One Direction are here to stay. Speaking backstage at Capital's Summertime Ball with Vodafone at London's Wembley Stadium yesterday (June 6), Liam addressed rumours of the phenomenally successful boy band's imminent split, saying, "We don't know where that came from because we've got loads of stuff going on."
Right direction: Liam says the band aren't going anywhere
"We have just started the process for recording the new album, we've got a whole new tour going on, there are some really good songs so I don't think we are going anywhere for a while."

The presenting star's brief courtship with the One Direction fave is something she refuses to be sorry about
Caroline Flack is an accomplished presenter, a perfect ten Strictly scorer and a bit of a fashion front runner as well but, despite all this, it seems the three-months she chose to spend dating a then 17-year-old Harry Styles may be the one thing that she finds she can’t quite ever shake off.
Caroline was given a lot of Flack when she dated pop prince Harry Styles
In a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, the small starlet opened up about her brief dalliance with the international pop star three years ago.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will return to the judging panel for the upcoming 12th series of 'The X Factor'.
Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will return to The X Factor and has received a hefty pay rise. According to reports, the former Girls Aloud star has negotiated a £500K pay bump. Chart stars hit the green carpet at the 2014 Free Radio Live concert held at the LG Arena in Birmingham. Among them were Ed Sheeran, Becky Hill, Olly Murs, Ella Eyre and Nicole Scherzinger - the latter of whom looked super cool in loose black sparkly pants.
The two Take That bandmates went head-to-head in the charts this weekend, with Robbie holding out for the No. 1 spot
It was like 1997 all over again this weekend, as Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow battled it out for the Number One spot on the UK Album Chart. Much like the battles of the mid-to-late nineties, it was Robbie who came out on top again, making him the last artist to top the album chart in 2013.
The Take That guys were fighting for the top spot yet again
Robbie's new big band album, Swing Both Ways, held on to the No. 1 spot for a second week, having emerged victorious from another closely fought contest from last week. It was One Direction who Robbie managed to beat to the No. 1 spot last week, with his latest album beating Midnight Memories to the top spot by just 200 copies. This time around it was a relatively more clear contest, with Swing Both Ways outselling Gary Barlow’s latest solo effort, Since I Saw You Last, by approximately 12,000 copies.

Steve Carell has revealed during the 'Anchorman 2' première that the filming was difficult, due to Will Ferrell being too funny on the set.
Actor Steve Carell had difficulty working on the 'Anchorman' sequel because he found Will Ferrell so funny it was ''almost impossible'' to work with him. The 51-year-old 'Despicable Me' actor apparently had no quarrels with immediately signing on for 'Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues', as the 2004 original was the "best fun" he's ever had. On the flip side, it made his job incredibly difficult, as he was almost unable to film certain scenes as he struggled to keep his composure.
In an interview with 'Bang Showbiz' at 'Anchorman 2''s premiere at The Odeon, Leicester Square, London, the 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' star explained that: 'There's a scene we did in a lighthouse with Ron and it's probably the scene I laughed the hardest at. Will was so especially funny that day, it was almost impossible to get it [the scene] done.

Olly Murs got more than he bargained for during his appearance on Graham Norton's chat show.
Graham Norton well and truly embarrasses Olly Murs on the latest episode of his chat show, set to air tonight (March 1, 2013), revealing the pop-star's crush on Mila Kunis - as you may have guessed by now, Hollywood actress Mila was sitting just inches away. Prankster Norton read out tweets that Murs had written about the 'Oz: The Great And Powerful' actress, leaving the singer red-faced.
Murs has long tweeted of his liking for Mila, though Norton read out a few select cringe-worthy posts on his show. Olly had once selected the actress as the woman he would "most like to have kids with," much to the audience's delight. Apologising, Murs said, "I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would actually meet her," though the cheeky-chappy added, "Olly and Mila has a great ring to it!" Mila - who is in the UK promoting Sam Raimi's Wizard of Oz prequel - took everything in good humour, graciously replying, "This is so flattering".
It's certainly an all-star line-up on tonight's show, with Kunis and Murs being joined by Skyfall actress Dame Judi Dench and Side Effects star Jude Law. As musical guest, Olly will be performing his track 'Army of Two.'

British popstar Olly Murs is snapped arriving at the airport in Boston, Massachusetts. He is swamped by a group of female fans but seems delighted enough to be in their company and poses for photos with them as well as chatting to them and answering their questions. One girl squeals when he pecks her on the cheek.
Olly Murs is currently riding high on the UK Singles chart with ‘Troublemaker’ but can he make it a double-whammy with his third studio album? It will mean shaking Rihanna off the top of the tree; she’s currently sat there with Unapologetic, but will the UK decide to favour Olly’s boyish charms, over tabloid perennial Rhi Rhi?
Right Place Right Time is the third full-length release from Murs, who manages to maintain a presence on prime-time TV with his Xtra Factor presenting duties, even when he’s not releasing records. His harmless and affable charm seem to do as well for him as his song choices and the success of ‘Troublemaker’ will, of course, help sales of the album. Which just happens to be coming out a few weeks before Christmas. Which is kind of handy because he’s the kind of middle-of-the-road pop act you can purchase as an ambitious stocking filler, or for your Secret Santa at work, for the girl that doesn’t really seem to care about music very much.

For a few seconds, Olly Murs thought he had seriously injured JLS star Aston Merrygold. The prank was filmed for Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer show, which is coming next Friday, October 19 to UK Screens.
According to The Mirror, Murs was interviewing his pop counterparts, JLS, when Aston volunteered to be shot out of a cannon, and Ollie was nominated to press the button to launch him clear. When the big moment came, with the tension at a suitably palpable level…. nothing happened. But, being a stereotypical guy, Ollie smacked the button a second time, even harder, and was seen to be shocked as Aston shot out of the cannon, missed the safety net and smacked into a wooden stage. It turned out that the body fired out of the cannon didn’t belong to Aston at all but an experienced stuntman. All was well, of course, as was the man Ollie shot from the canon, but for some time, Mr Murs thought he’d dealt some real damage to his fellow pop star. "Still recovering, still shaking & still shocked!! @JLSOfficial you got me proper today!!" he tweeted after the hoax. JLS star Marvin Humes added: "Just did an amazing prank with @ollyofficial and lots of JLSters!! Absolutely hilarious! Can't wait for u all to see!!"
Stand Up To Cancer represents a collaboration between Channel 4 and Cancer Research. It will see some of he biggest UK stars do all sorts of things, pranks included, to raise money and awareness of Cancer treatment.
