Actress Olivia Newton-John has spoken of her pride after launching a cancer facility named in her honour in Australia.
The multi-million dollar Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre opened this week (begs18Jun12) at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, and health chiefs hope it will provide leading clinical care and research.
The Grease star, a breast cancer survivor, was the guest of honour at the launch, and she is overjoyed the facility has finally opened its doors after years of financial issues.
She says, "It is absolutely a dream come true, today is the first day that the public has seen this magnificent hospital and wellness centre... we've been working on it a long time, it's been a 10 year vision and nine years fundraising and we're just delighted."
Detailing the massage facilities at the clinic, she adds, "I know from my own experience that healing touch can be very helpful when you're going through cancer because it's pretty disturbing, and just to feel human touch is really wonderful."
