Oasis Hit Re-Enters The Charts After Crowds Sing It At Manchester Memorial

Oasis

Oasis’ hit song ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ is set to make a re-appearance in the charts this week, after it was adopted as an anthem of unity by the people of Manchester in the wake of the devastating terror attack that hit the city earlier this week.

Following the suicide bomb that claimed the lives of 22 people and injured 119 others on Monday night at the Ariana Grande concert at MEN Arena, the track has come to symbolise Manchester’s defiance and unity in the face of tragedy.

It touched the hearts of millions all over again this week when a video went viral of a crowd of mourners gathered in St. Ann’s Square in the city were seen singing the track, following a respectful minute’s silence.

Oasis Turned Down 'Trainspotting' Soundtrack Because They Thought It Was Actually About Trainspotters

Oasis Noel Gallagher Danny Boyle

One of the reasons why the movie Trainspotting was so beloved back in 1996 was its soundtrack, full of stars from the contemporary world of Britpop such as Elastica, Pulp, Underworld and Leftfield. But one of the biggest names in music was missing: that of Oasis, the biggest name on the scene.

It turns out that the Manchester legends were offered the opportunity to record a track for the movies, but that Noel Gallagher turned it down because he presumed the film to actually be about trainspotters, rather than poverty-stricken heroin addicts in Edinburgh.

Liam Gallagher has suggested that he is prepared to sign up for an Oasis reunion – but that he won’t go “cap in hand” to his older brother Noel in order to make it go ahead.

The 44 year old singer and former frontman of Oasis has said that the band should never have split up back in 2009, and said that his “bags are packed” in the event that he gets an offer to reunite with them.

He told Sky News at the launch of the new Oasis documentary movie Supersonic, directed by Mat Whitecross and released on Sunday (October 2nd): “If it happens tomorrow, I'm ready, my bags are packed. If it happens in a year, I'm still ready, if it happens in 10 years, I'm still ready.”

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has taken to social media to tease a potential return to the music scene after a couple of years away.

43 year old Liam has musically been silent for a while, ever since his first post-Oasis project Beady Eye disbanded in 2014 after only two albums. In his own, inimitable style, he took to Twitter on Wednesday night (July 21st) to fire a warning shot to “plastic rock n rollers” that he was coming back for what was rightfully his.

'Wonderwall' Voted Best British Song Ever By Radio X Listeners, As Oasis Dominate Poll

Oasis Noel Gallagher

In a revelation that will surprise precisely nobody, Oasis have thoroughly dominated a poll conducted by Radio X to discover the best British song of all time, securing not only the number one spot with ‘Wonderwall’ but also the rest of the top four.

There’s been plenty of scorn directed at the online poll, which has been run by the overwhelmingly white male-oriented station over the last week, as the now-defunct Manchester group had their songs ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, ‘Champagne Supernova’ and ‘Live Forever’ named as the rest of the top four respectively.

Noel Gallagher Denies Oasis Reunion Rumours, Blames Liam

Noel Gallagher Liam Gallagher Oasis

Noel Gallagher has denied recent reports that Oasis are due to reform, blaming his younger brother Liam for starting the false rumour.

Furthermore, the 47 year old claims that he hasn’t at any point considered reuniting the beloved Britpop group, after he himself quit the band at a show in Paris in August 2009. At the time, Liam was reported to have broken one of his favourite guitars minutes before the band was due onstage at a festival.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, he said: “There was a rumour last week that we've had a gentleman's agreement [to reform Oasis], but that rumour's come from his people. It's a ‘source close to him’, and I'll tell you how close it is: she probably wakes up with him every morning. It's always left to me in an interview to let the kids down. People say, “You're breaking these kids' hearts”. Well, what the f***, man?”

Oasis Reunion In 2014? Probably Not, But Watch This Space

Following Facebook and Instagram posts last night, Oasis fans were dusting off their parka coats and bucket hats, calling their brothers "r kid" and swaggering down to their local clutching a two-pound coin to play Standing on the Shoulders of Giants in its entirety, on the jukebox.

And then came the news that the "cryptic message" that read "February 26 - 9am" was not in fact signalling the announcement of a reunion tour or new album, but instead marking the reissue of the band's 1994 debut Definitely Maybe on its 20th anniversary, on May 19.

And that's it. Another year passes and Worthy Farm closes its gates on the Glastonbury Festival revellers for another 12 months. Though there's always the distant murmur of someone professing it "the best Glastonbury ever," there was a palpable feeling that this year's festival was among the finest in history. Firstly, there was heightened anticipation given the fallow year in 2012 and secondly, the sun came out. Oh, and The Rolling Stones made their debut, rollicking through a two-and-a-half-hour set on Saturday (June 29, 2013) and scoring five-star reviews across the board.

The surprise return of David Bowie in 2013 had left many commentators speculating on the possibility of the Thin White Duke headlining the legendary festival, though there was no lingering thoughts of "What if?" once Glastonbury got underway on Friday with a snappy set from Sheffield heroes Arctic Monkeys. Bowie became all but a moot point after Saturday, when Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and company played a career spanning set that included 'Jumping Jack Flash,' 'Tumbling Dice,' 'Start Me Up,' 'You Can't Always Get What You Want,' 'Gimmie Shelter,' 'Doom and Gloom' and 'Midnight Rambler.' "The night belongs to the Stones. By turning on the charm as well as the formidable back catalogue, they prove themselves well worth the wait," said the Guardian's Dorian Lynskey.

Liam Gallagher Went Into Anaphylactic Shock After Eating Blue M&M

Liam Gallagher Oasis Carl Barat Rizzle Kicks

It would have been slightly ironic had a blue M&M nut killed off former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. The Manchester-born singer, who's lived the rock n' roll lifestyle for over 20 years, admitted he thought his time was up after going into anaphylactic shock during a international tour last month. The singer has since been diagnosed with a nut allergy after suffering a reaction to his favourite sweets while performing abroad.

Speaking at the launch of The Red House restaurant in south-west London, Gallagher told The Sun: "I've done some stuff over the years but never, never did I think a f****** blue M&M would be the thing that could have killed me. I was in a hotel on holiday and got in about the mini bar..I was bored and hungry, so it's what you do, man. I've always liked M&Ms so I got into them. I had a blue one..My mouth started to swell up and I could feel it tightening my throat, man. I had to go to the docs and get it checked out straight away." Pretty scary stuff indeed.

Anyway, Liam now has to carry a syringe about with him in case of emergencies, "Proper Pete Doherty gear," he added. The singer was out drinking with brother-in-law Liam Howlett, Hurts' singer Theo Hutchcraft, The Libertines guitarist Carl Barat and rappers Rizzle Kicks. The whole gang ended up in The Box nightclub in Soho.

Riding On The Shoulders Of Dogs: Liam Gallagher Gets Wasted

Liam Gallagher Oasis Noel Gallagher

Liam Gallagher’s not one for ageing gracefully, bless him, not that the punters at The Old White Bear in Hampstead, north west London seemed to mind too much as he indulged in a boozy drinking session with his mates at the weekend, which culminated in him trying to ride around on a dog.

That’s right, the inebriated brother of Noel and former Oasis man hopped on board a passing dog and attempted to ride it like a pony. An onlooker commented “He tried to get on the dog’s back and they were just taking little steps — but it just didn’t work. It was really funny.” The group carried on drinking, including ordering £47 bottles of champagne, however after racking up a tab of more than £300 it looked like they might well depart without paying a penny –and not out of the kindness of the owners.

A source told The Sun: “The poor waitress serving them was crying when she thought she’d lost all the money, but the pub manager ran after him.” Thankfully the incident just seemed to be a bit of drunken forgetfulness, with the manager telling the paper “After £300 of drink you forget things. He was happy to pay straight away when I caught up with him.” Liam always was the more rock n’ roll brother of him and Noel, wasn’t he?

Noel Gallagher Doubts That Live 8 Will Be Successful

Noel Gallagher Oasis Keane

Noel Gallagher has revealed that the Live 8 concert is unlikely to achieve what it set out to do - that being, convince politicians from some of the richest countries in the world to band together and wipe out the debts that poorer nations owe them. The Oasis guitarist has stated his belief that rock stars and musicians alone do not hold that sort of political sway, and they honestly do not have the power to influence the decision-makers within the G8.

Believing that all the hard work will be in vain, Gallagher explained that: "Correct me if I'm wrong, but are they hoping that one of these guys from the G8 is on a quick 15 minute break at Gleneagles (in Scotland) and sees Annie Lennox singing 'Sweet Dreams' and thinks, 'F**k me, she might have a point there, you know?'
