| 4. Solid Steel Presents DJ Food & DK Now Listen (12" - Ninja Tune) |
| In anticipation of their new mix album, Ninja Tune present us with a quality sample of three unmixed tracks lifted from the compilation. Purely old school and discerningly hand picked, this ep gives a fine indication that the album is going to be very special indeed. First up is Dominic Dalcans Ritmo 2, a carnival celebration of whistles, exuberant congas and a sweet Latin vocal, reminiscent of Airto Morieras Celebration Suite. Then comes Hotel Alyssa by Sabu Martinez, another uplifting, percussion led party track with loads of hip twisting, bebop saxophone. Finally things are polished off very nicely with the highly sampled and easily recognised Riding High by Faze O. A choice selection from folk who really know. |
