Nine Inch Nails have returned with a brand new EP entitled 'Not The Actual Events'. It's a five-track release from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who is as of this year a bona fide member of the band. They'll also be launching a special limited edition of 'The Fragile'.

The tracklist for 'Not The Actual Events' includes 'Branches/Bones', 'Dear World', 'She's Gone Away', 'The Idea of You' and 'Burning Bright (Field on Fire)'. It's the best full release since 'Hesitation Marks' in 2013 featuring the singles 'Everything' and 'Copy Of A'.

'It's an unfriendly, fairly impenetrable record that we needed to make', Reznor said of the new EP. 'It's an EP because that ended up being the proper length to tell that story.'

Atticus Ross is Nine Inch Nails' long-term producer who has worked on every album since 2005's 'With Teeth'. He is also well-known for his work with Reznor on film soundtracks; they landed the Academy Award for Best Original Score for 2010's 'The Social Network', and a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for 2013's 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'. They also did the soundtrack for 2014's 'Gone Girl' and the new environmental documentary film 'Before the Flood', as well as Peter Berg's 'Patriots Day'.

Nine Inch Nails will be releasing a special vinyl collection of 1999's number one album 'The Fragile' featuring four discs entitled 'The Fragile: Deviations 1'. 'The Fragile occupies a very interesting and intimate place in my heart', says Reznor.

'I was going through a turbulent time in my life when making it and revisiting it has become a form of therapy for me. As an experiment, I removed all the vocals from the record and found it became a truly changed experience that worked on a different yet compelling level. The Fragile: Deviations 1 represents Atticus and I embellishing the original record with a number of tracks from those sessions we didn't use before. The result paints a complimentary but different picture we wanted to share.'

'Not The Actual Events' will be released on December 23rd 2016.
