Internationally-renowned artist, Nile Rodgers, took time out of the world of disco for a one-on-one session with Spotify to discuss the creative process and his prolific musical career so far during an event at advertising conference, Advertising Week.

Nile Rodgers talked about his time in the music industry at a recent event

The guitarist, producer and co-founder of disco group Chic spent time with Spotify’s Head of Editorial and, with the help of his ‘Hitmaker’ guitar, musically illustrated his life as a composer, arranger and artist.

As part of Chic, Rodgers was involved with huge hits including 1978’s Le Freak and 1977’s Everybody Dance and contributed to the band becoming known as “the most sampled band in history.”

Rodgers has also collaborated as a performer and producer with some of the hottest artists of the time, including Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, David Bowie and Madonna, more recently linking up with Pharrell Williams, Disclosure and, pop man of the moment, Sam Smith.

The cultural icon has over 200 production credits to his name with one more added to the pile following the recent release of a new Chic single, I’ll Be There, the first in almost 25 years.

The event at which Rodgers attended, Advertising Week, is in its third year of providing a seven-day platform for thought-leaders to engage and discuss key business drivers that shape and influence global industry.

Other people who provide expertise at this year’s offering were glamour model and businesswoman Katie Price, who spoke about building a personal brand, and Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington, who joined a panel to discuss the role of positive brand ambassadors.
