The Motley Crue bassist has been open about his struggles with alcohol and drugs in the past, and he detailed his substance abuse hell in his 2007 memoir, The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star.
Sixx has been clean since 2001 and now he is hoping to inspire others to keep fighting "the good fight" through all of their ups and downs, so they can become a success story, just like him.
Taking to Instagram.com to mark his sobriety anniversary, the 56 year old writes, "14 years sober today.WOKE UP AND WATCHED THE SUNRISE.
"It's not easy being sober especially in the situations my business puts me in but that doesn't make me a hero it just means I have to work harder. BEING SOBER LONGER IS NOT AN EGO TRIP. If you desire to change your life just dive right in. NO MATTER HOW COLD THE WATER MAY BE YOUR LIFE WILL ACCLIMATE....
"I used to wanna die because my family left me with nothing to live for.THESE DAYS I WANNA LIVE NOT ONLY FOR ALL THE FUN STUFF I GET TO DO BUT FOR MY 'FAMILY'.
