Nick Cannon

Introduction:

Nick Cannon, (born Nicholas Scott Cannon on October 8, 1980), is an American television host, actor, comedian, and rapper, renowned for his versatility across various entertainment platforms. He gained prominence as a teenager on Nickelodeon’s “All That” and has since hosted popular shows like “America’s Got Talent” and “The Masked Singer.” In music, he is best known for his 2003 hit single “Gigolo.” 

Early Life and Background:

Nick Cannon was born in San Diego, California, where he was largely raised by his paternal grandfather in the Bay Vista Housing Projects of Southeast San Diego. During his teenage years, Cannon was affiliated with the Lincoln Park Bloods street gang but distanced himself after the loss of a close friend. He graduated from Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley, California, where he served as president of the African Student Coalition and participated in track and field. His first break in comedy came through performing stand-up on his father’s local cable access program. 

Music Career:

Cannon’s self-titled debut album was released in 2003, featuring the successful single “Gigolo,” a collaboration with R. Kelly. In 2005, he formed his own record label, Can-I-Ball Records, which was later replaced by N’Credible Entertainment in 2009. Under this label, he released the mixtape “Child of the Corn” in 2011 and his second studio album, “White People Party Music,” in 2014. 

Television and Film Career:

Cannon’s television career began with Nickelodeon’s “All That,” leading to his own show, “The Nick Cannon Show.” He hosted “Wild ‘n Out,” “America’s Got Talent,” and “The Masked Singer,” showcasing his versatility as a host. His film roles include “Drumline,” “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” and “Roll Bounce.” 

Personal Life:

In 2008, Cannon married singer Mariah Carey, and the couple welcomed twins, Monroe and Moroccan, in 2011. They separated in 2014. Cannon has fathered multiple children with different partners, totaling 12 as of 2024. In November 2024, he revealed on his “Counsel Culture” podcast that he had been diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder and discussed his ongoing mental health journey.
