‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ actor Nicholas Brendon has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour charge of criminal mischief in a court hearing on Friday. Brendon was arrested in October after an alleged domestic dispute at a hotel in New York, where he was accused of ‘grabbing his girlfriend by the throat.’
Nicholas Brendon has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour charge of criminal mischief.
According to the Albany Times Union Brendon was issued a conditional discharge by City Judge James Doern, meaning he will not serve jail time in the case, if he completes drug and alcohol counselling and stays out of trouble for one year.
'Based upon our review of the facts and circumstances of this case, and after speaking with the victim, we believe justice was served,” District Attorney Karen Heggen said. The actor is said to have left Origins Behavioral Healthcare in West Palm Beach, Florida, to enter the plea and immediately returned to the recovery center.
His attorney Peter Coseo said Brendon was: “In a much better place than he was when he was charged in September. He seemed to me very pleased with his progress, and hopes to get his life back together.”
At the time of the incident Bob Jillson, Investigations Lieutenant at Saratoga Springs Police Department, told People: “Last night around 11:30 p.m., we got called to a nice family-owned hotel in town for a reported domestic disturbance.”
“We got to the room and we found a 33-year-old female there by herself, and she reported that she had been in a domestic incident with Nick, and he had subsequently left before we got there. She did not have any physical injuries that we were aware of."
Earlier today Brendon posted a photo of himself to his Facebook page and wrote: ‘It's another beautiful day on this round floating rock we call planet earth. I'm heading back to treatment today to continue #kickingdepressionintheballsack After successfully taking care of some life business. Much much love to you all.
