After saying she wanted champagne to mark her 21st, Olivia Rodrigo has joked she used the landmark birthday to mark her final day of “hypothetically” underage drinking.
Olivia Rodrigo marked her 21st birthday by celebrating her final day of “hypothetically” underage drinking.
The ‘Vampire’ singer celebrated her milestone age on Tuesday (20.02.24) and was joined by friends Iris Apatow, Conan Gray, Tate McRae and her rumoured new boyfriend The Kid Laroi for a party.
She said alongside an Instagram post of photos of them together: “I’ll blow out the candles, happy birthday to me.”
Olivia added: “Today is my last day of being able to underage drink (hypothetically)!!!!”
She and her pals celebrated with a party at home, with Olivia wearing a black dress as her she blew out candles on a cake that said “Happy Birthday Olivia.”
Her fans congratulated her on her birthday by flooding the comments section of her post with well wishes – with one saying: “YOU DIDN’T DIE BEFORE YOU COULD DRINK YIPPEE,” in reference to Olivia’s lyrics from her track ‘Brutal’: “I’m so insecure, I think / That I’ll die before I drink.”
Another of her followers said: “THE WAY SHE SANG ‘I’M SO SICK OF 17’ FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY AND NOW SHE’S 21!!!”
Olivia’s big day comes a few weeks after she revealed she planned to pop champagne to toast her 21st.
She told Entertainment Tonight before the bash: “It is a big birthday. I think I’m gonna have a party with my friends and pop some champagne, you know? It’s the 21st.”
The singer also recently told Variety she wanted to make a “coming-of-age” film, adding: “I love movies, I love telling stories. I really want to do a coming-of-age thing, maybe before I’m actually of age.
“Maybe I am of age already. I just love telling stories, whether that be in a song or movie. That’s just something that really excites me.”
