Jay-Z and Beyonce are getting a lot of heat this week for their choice of vacation spot. The high profile couple recently visited Cuba on a holiday trip. But that’s not exactly like taking a trip to Hawaii. Mauricio Claver-Carone, the D.C. director for the US-Cuba Democracy PAC -- a group committed to fighting for democracy in Cuba - tells TMZ the pair should've educated themselves about what's really going on there before taking photo ops. According to him, Mr and Mrs Carter are oblivious to the tortures happening in Cuba on a daily basis and they should have known better.

Last Thursday, Jay and Bey were photographed in Havana, reportedly celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary. But US citizens are still banned from visiting the country purely for recreational purposes. They are supposed to obtain a travel license from the US government. And while the couple probably did that, according to some Cuban-American groups, the couple’s holiday was insensitive and painted the wrong picture of the country.

Mauricio says he's disappointed the superstars chose to vacay in Cuba because, "There are women getting beaten on a daily basis, women who are being jailed for no reason ... people are fighting for their freedom. It’s extremely insensitive."

We can sort of see Mr Claver-Carone’s point, but what would Beyonce and Jay-Z themselves have to say about the gaffe?

The power couple need to be more careful about choosing their vacation spot next time.
