Hunter Schafer is "still processing" the fact 'Euphoria' is returning for a third season.

The 25-year-old actress stars as Jules Vaughn in the HBO teen drama and has admitted she doubted another instalment of the hit series - which also stars the likes of Zendaya (Rue) and Sydney Sweeney (Cassie) - would ever happen as the stars have moved on to even bigger things.

She told W Magazine: "It’s so wild because we’ve been in this limbo for a couple years now of, like, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to get a season 3.’ It was taking so long, and everyone is growing up and getting busy. The further you get away from it, the more out of reach it feels. It’s really surreal. I’m still processing, honestly."

The 'Kinds of Kindness' actress also admitted she is "nervous" about returning to the set following the death of co-star Angus Cloud (Fez) - who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2023 aged 31 - as his presence will be missed.

She added: “I think people’s absence will be felt, and I’m a bit…I’m nervous for that.

“But I think, in another sense, it’s a beautiful opportunity to spend time in the world where you got to know and love those people.”

Sydney recently admitted she is "excited" to start shooting season three of the hit TV show in January.

The 'Anyone But You' star, 26, told PEOPLE: "I'm very excited to jump back into Cassie. She is definitely one of the most special characters for me and I love my 'Euphoria' family, so I look forward to it."

Sydney loves exploring the darker side of her on-screen character, too.

She confessed: "I love crazy Cassie, so the crazier, the better for me."
