In March (15), the former Grand Slam-winning sports star was found guilty of two counts of rape and one of sexual assault for attacking several young girls he was coaching during the 1980s and '90s.

In court in Pretoria, South Africa on Monday (18May15), the Australian-born athlete was sentenced to eight years in jail, with two years suspended, for the rape charges. He was also handed a two-year prison term for sexual assault. They will be served at the same time.

Judge Bert Bam also ordered the 75 year old to pay an $8,500 (£5,300) fine to the South African Department of Justice, which will go to campaigns against sexual violence.
