With the summer music festival season drawing in, a small park in Brighton is refusing to let go, with the nascent Boundary Festival about to host its inaugural party - a one day event of electronic music and RnB in Stanmer Park.
Working with local nightclubs, Patterns, The Arch and Concorde 2, Boundary Festival is hoping to establish itself as another date in the festival calendar, albeit a late addition in the year. Nonetheless, the festival is attempting to bring some big room artists to a boutique festival just outside the city center of Brighton.
With four stages across Stanmer Park, here are five artists that shouldn't be missed.
Craig David TS5 - Saturday - Mix Mag/Concorde 2 stage - Headline Act
After a year of non-stop touring, and a very recent Live Lounge performance on Radio 1, it is safe to say the comeback is near complete - though he is still missing the elusive brand new LP.
It's been an incredibly busy year for Craig David as he's been a key figure on the festival circuit whilst trying to establish his resurgence and introduce his latest act TS5. TS5 was a concept born out of his L.A house parties, where David would sing, perform, freestyle and act as the DJ. Though the artist has a significant lack of new material, the volume of bookings and appearances at festivals around Europe indicate the demand is there for the Craig David, and undoubtedly will be a huge crowd looking for the nostalgia.
Jackmaster - Saturday - LWE X Patterns stage - Headline Act
It has been a good year for the Scottish DJ, who's style of house and techno has seen him travel far and wide, even providing an excellent essential mix earlier in the year going back to back with one of his heroes - Armin van Helden. Despite the constancy of house throughout his set, Glasgow's finest stands out with his eclectic choice of samples and mixes that are designed to make the crowd dance. He is anything but a mashup DJ, though some left field samples will be heard throughout. A very funky set.
If you still aren't sold, check out his essential mix from Parklife Festival earlier this year on mixcloud.
Groove Armada - Saturday - Mix Mag/Concorde 2 stage - Penultimate Act
Warming the stage for the headline act, Groove Armada will perform a DJ set as opposed to their 'Live set', the London duo will be dropping some of their back catalogue that made them so famous in the back end of the nineties and early noughties. Expect to hear lots of trumpets and brass instruments as the likes of 'Superstylin' are projected out of Stanmer Park.
Jaguar Skills - Saturday - Boundary X Bandstand
For those who have never heard of Jaguar Skills, one thing is guaranteed: he will play at least ten songs you love throughout his set. The masked DJ stealthily drops more genres, hits and classics throughout his mash-up set than any other. With an incredible ear for the best music of every genre, Jaguar Skills always provides a fantastic set that pleases everyone.
Wilkinson - Saturday Night - Mix Mag Concorde 2 stage
Despite not having his own stage to headline, the drum n bass DJ will no doubt bring in those wanting that BPM just a little faster. With a catalogue of commercial drum n bass hits, for those audience members thinking they don't know any of Wilkinson's tracks, they might just be more than surprised. His hits are regularly played over Radio 1, and the DJ/producer has worked with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32 and Chase and Status over the last few years.
