Piper Chapman is getting a lot longer sentence in prison than she thought because 'Orange Is The New Black' has at least three more years left to run. Netflix has ordered a whopping three more seasons of its beloved comedy show, as long as creator Jenji Kohan is around to make it happen.

We're still trying to calm our excitement ahead of the season four airing in June, but now we're hyped up again to discover that it'll be a while before it's over yet. Of course, as part of the new deal, Jenji Kohan has to stay on board which is more difficult than it may sound given how strongly in demand she is at the moment.

However, the Primetime Emmy winner, whose previous credits include 'Weeds' and 'Tracey Takes On...', is far from apprehensive about the major contract. 'Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things', said Kohan in a statement. 'Here's to keeping it interesting. Thanks Netflix! Both thanks and you're welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers. with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show.'

The renewal happens to be the longest for any show in recent history, and it's easy to see why given its success at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this year where it won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and supporting star Uzo Aduba won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

'Jenji and her team have produced a phenomenal and impactful series that is both funny and dramatic, outrageous and heartfelt', said Netflix Original's Vice President Cindy Holland. 'Audiences around the world have come to love the ladies and men of 'Orange is the New Black,' and we are eager to see where three more seasons will take them.'

'Orange Is the New Black' season four starring Taylor Schilling, Laverne Cox and Laura Prepon is expected to air on Netflix on June 17th 2016.
