Nene Leakes will no longer be appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The 47-year-old reality star announced the news on Tuesday (30th June) yet she already has plans to move on to a game show, To Tell the Truth.
NeNe Leakes will be a panellist on To Tell the Truth.
It’s been more than 14 years since the last episode of To Tell the Truth aired but ABC have decided to revive the show and Leakes will be one of its stars. She will be a panellist on the show and is teaming up with Golden Girls actress and beloved cultural icon Betty White. Leakes and White have previously worked together when Leakes appeared on White’s Off Their Rockers back in 2013.
According to reports in Us Weekly, the show will see Leakes and White joined on a panel by two other celebrity guests. The panel will then have to guess which of the three contestants is lying about their particular talent, career or achievement.
Leakes and White will be working alongside Black-ish actor Anthony Anderson and his mother, Doris, who is acting as scorekeeper on the show. Production for the upcoming series is seemingly underway as Leakes has already shared pictures of preparations on her Instagram. In one picture she appears to be relaxing in her dressing room at the studio and in another she poses alongside Anderson.
Leakes has starred on The Real Housewives of Atlanta since its first season in 2008. She has been the show’s longest running star and certainly its most success in terms of expanding into other ventures. Leakes appeared on other such reality shows as Dancing With the Stars and The Millionaire Matchmaker. She also had a guest role in Glee as swim coach Roz Washington.
Despite her success on The Real Housewives – she’s certainly a fan favourite – Leakes announced it was time for her to move on earlier this week. Her contract is reportedly up and she has decided not to renew it in order to pursue other opportunities.
“This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things,” Leakes said in a statement shortly after announcing her departure.
