Natasha Lyonne auditioned for Neve Campbell's role in 'Wild Things' but she was "definitely not getting that part".
The 'Orange Is The New Black' star has revealed she tried out for the 1998 movie - which also starred Matt Dillon and Denise Richards - but she didn't get a call back and she later realised she had got it wrong when she dressed "like a Robert Palmer girl" from the musician's famous ' Addicted To Love' music video.
According to Variety, Natasha opened up about the experience during a question-and-answer session in Los Angeles to promote her new movie 'His Three Daughters', saying: " I was nailing it. But I was definitely not getting that part. It was not what they were looking for."
The actress added of Campbell’s performance: "Clearly, she’s a wonderful actress and the film holds up"
Natasha went on to reveal she spent years hating the audition process until she stepped behind the camera and realised rejection isn't "personal".
She explained: "I would be crushed again and again. And I discovered on the other side as a producer, a director, a writer [that] it’s so not personal. It was the oddest thing to discover – I’d spent literally 30 years of my life thinking I just needed to do a good enough job."
Natasha stars in 'His Three Daughters' alongside Elizabeth Olsen, who told the audience at the event that she actually really likes trying out for parts.
She said: "I love auditioning. I know that’s not everyone’s feelings but, I mean, you get to go act for a day. You have something to do for 20 minutes, something to focus on.
"You’re going to fail potentially, but you get to try something. And if it works that the other person likes the thing, you’re kind of getting a vibe for one another."
