Third Floor Story Lonely City Album

Daniel Green, Brian Walters, Daniel Abrahams, Tim Jackson and Rick Pita are Third Floor Story. The London based band are ready to unleash their debut album Lonely City. After drafting in three more band members Third Floor Story have been out touring and have completed recording their debut album.

With websites like myspace, it is always lot easier to find some stuff out about new up and coming bands and Third Floor Story are one of those bands that are on myspace, and have their own website. Myspace seems to be a great way for up and coming bands to get noticed and heard, cause you can listen tracks by the bands and decide on that if you like them or not. The influences of these guys are quite interesting Crowded House, Police and Stone Roses!!! Interesting in the fact that the Stone Roses are there, very different to the other two influences!

Lonely City the title track starts the album off quite well. Daniel Green displays his mellow like sounding vocals that bring the music to a somewhat lower tone. I can't see these guys really rocking out. If that was to happen I think his vocals might get lost in the music. Your Love comes after and now that you feel yeah these songs are very nice, but nothing jumps out at you. The disappointing thing is that ninety percent of this album is all very much the same. It seems that they have found something that they like and are good at and are staying in that comfort zone. This has worked for Coldplay, but for some other artists they need to cross the line and change something, otherwise you are in danger of being another run of the mill band. With Always Dragging Me Down, Third Floor Story, use the old piano ballad that actually is a good mellowed out track, but at the same is part of the ten percent that is different to the rest of the album. Vocally it must be said they do sound a bit McFlyish!! (well when they are a little older & more mature if you know what I mean!!!)

There are quite a few bands that have done well off this style; I mean look at Keane, The Thrills and even Badly Drawn Boy to an extent. The music has a continuous level, that is, how can it be put "Easy Listening Indie-Pop". The band are not quite McFly, but at the same time they are not really Bloc Party. The thing is that the potential is there and there will be a lot of people that will really like Third Floor Story.
