Morrissey is "warm and funny".

Although the former Smiths singer is famed for his dour persona, outspoken Courteeners frontman Liam Fray was pleasantly surprised when they met recently.

Liam said: "I remember the first time he came to watch us, at the Camden Barfly in London.

"I was outside... when this black cab pulled up and I just saw this silhouette of a quiff inside. Then he got out and I was like, 'f***ing hell! It's Morrissey!' After the show he came down and had a beer with us.

"He's a f***ing top person. He's warm. Really funny... I mean, he's quite shy, but he's also very engaging. It's crazy, sitting down and having a beer with one of the greats, if not The Great.

"But we're all just people, aren't we? NOne Of Us are superhuman. Not all of us, anyway..."

In the past, the 'Charming Man' singer has heaped support on The Courteeners, claiming that they were unlike any other band in the UK.

He said: "So many groups in England, they're hyped and they're huge and they're all over the press and they don't really actually have anything on offer... but it's different with The Courteeners, they actually do have very good, strong songs."
