The rapper hasn’t released any new material since ‘WTF (Where They From)’ in November 2015.

The actor ended up with 12 new tattoos in total after filming the road trip movie.
Shia LaBeouf says he was 'peer pressured' into getting two tattoos of hip-hop star Missy Elliott during the filming of new movie American Honey. The actor said that during the making of the road trip movie the cast would frequently visit the local tattoo parlours, leaving him with 12 new inkings in total.
Shia LaBeouf now has two tattoos of Missy Elliott
“One of the things we’d do as a group, we’d all go to the f***ing tattoo shop,” LaBeouf told Variety. The frequent visits meant he ended up getting 12 tattoos during the filming, which drove director Andrea Arnold crazy because she didn’t want him showing up looking different in every scene.
The R&B/hip hop legend unleashed a video for her brand new single 'WTF (Where They From)' this week, her first new material in seven years.
The 44 year old star was responsible for some of the most distinctive and downright cool pop music of the late ‘90s and mid noughties, but she hasn’t released anything since 2008, when she vanished from the music scene. However, she's been gradually easing herself back into music, notably with a brief performance at halftime of February's Super Bowl.

The rapper is reportedly set to join Perry during Super Bowl XLIX halftime show.
In reports by the New York Daily News, a deliberately unnamed source close to the performance slated Missy Elliott for a surprise appearance to duet with the 30 year old star during Sunday’s showpiece game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ has gained two new cast members and many more Twitter complaints.
Lifetime’s upcoming Aaliyah biopic has found itself the subject of a casting controversy once again, as the actors playing Missy Elliot and Timbaland have been announced. Newcomers Chattrisse Dolabaille and Izaak Smith will be starring as the two hip hop stars who played a vital role in the late singer’s career. But with the Twitterverse already voicing their disproval, lets meet ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’s’ newest cast members.
Chattrisse Dolabaille has been cast as Missy Elliot
The casting of Lifetime’s ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B’ hasn’t exactly gone smoothly. Originally, Disney star Zendaya Coleman was tipped to play the tragic singer back in June. But as soon as the 17 year old’s name was announced the movie was hit with criticism from those who felt Zendaya just wasn't right for the part. Whether it was because of her age or appearance, the choice of Zendaya just didn't sit well with Aaliyah’s fans. Eventually the actress pulled out of movie, but instead of bowing to her critics, she citied production problems for her departure. In her place, Nickelodeon actress Alexandra Shipp was brought in to fill the lead role.
In a possible game-changer over how musicians are compensated for use of their music online, Billy Joel, Rihanna and Missy Elliot are set to fight the online music company Pandora Media Inc over royalties. The company is in the process of lobbying for U.S. Congress to pass the "Internet Radio Fairness Act," which would change regulation of how royalties are paid, though many of the artists themselves oppose it.
A group of 125 musicians, including Rihanna, Billy Joel and company, argue the bill would cut the amount of money an artist receives when one of their songs is played over the internet by a whopping 85 per cent. "Why is the company asking Congress once again to step in and gut the royalties that thousands of musicians rely upon? That's not fair and that's not how partners work together," read the open letter, to be published this weekend in Billboard. The issue of how Pandora - an advertising-driven online music company - pays musicians for streaming their songs has been hotly debated and a similar argument concerns Spotify in the UK and Europe. Pandora's founder and chief strategy officer said in a statement, "Internet radio and the artists whose music is played and listened to on the Internet are indeed all in this together.A sustainable Internet radio industry will benefit all artists, big and small." Essentially, the most customers Pandora attracts, the more money it has to pay overall for rights to stream music. The company perceives this to be "astonishingly unfair" to internet radio, saying on its website, "We are asking for our listeners' support to help end the discrimination against internet radio. It's time for Congress to stop picking winners, level the playing field and establish a technology-neutral standard."
According to Reuters, Pandora closed 4.6 per cent lower at $7.31 on the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday (November 14, 2012).
The BET Hip-Hop Awards attracted all the wrong kinds of attention at the weekend, as the event held in Atlanta, Georgia descended into farce when police were called in to break up a spat that took place at the ceremony.
Already suffering from bad press with the news that Kanye West wouldn't be attending the awards despite leading the way on nominations with 17 nods, the event was plunged into further disrepute when police confirmed to the Press Association that they'd been forced to respond to a scuffle that took place at around 7:30pm on Saturday evening (September 29th). No names were disclosed regarding who was involved in the scuffle, but it was revealed that the fight took place during a tribute performance to the late hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty, who committed suicide just last month. Gossip website TMZ.com say Rick Ross and Young Jeezy were the main offenders.
Leading the tribute performance were rappers Q-Tip, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott and 50 Cent; LL Cool J paid homage to him with some words beforehand. Away from the fights and the tributes, Rakim was given the "I Am Hip-Hop Icon" honour by fellow wordsmith T.I, with Kendrick Lamar coming away with lyricist of the year. The recording of the event will air on BET on October 9th, it's unknown whether the scuffle will be included, though officials said it did not interrupt the running of the awards.
Missy Elliott insists she will not go ahead and work on a posthumous Aaliyah album unless the late singer’s family gives her the green-light. The Virginia born rapper – who was instrumental in Aaliyah’s career – has been rumoured to be involved in a possible project, executively produced by Drake, though after dropping by New York’s Hot 97 radio station, she insists that was not the case. Yet.
Missy and close friend Timbaland spoke to host Angie Martinez about the possibility of an Aaliyah album, though the former insisted, “No call has been made to me…I have to respect her family. Until they come and say they're ready to do an Aaliyah album, I don't wanna get into that.” For his part, Timbaland – who worked on Aaliyah’s 1997 album ‘One in a Million’ - said the idea of another record would be difficult for him to handle emotionally, “For me, I have a hard time just listening to her music. So to sit there and do some music?” he explained, before Missy added, “We're not talking about records that were put out, we're talking about songs that are unfinished…We don't know her reasoning for not putting her records out. She might have felt that that wasn't her best work.” The all-star producing team would probably want to avoid a situation whereby Aaliyah fans felt the posthumous record offered little in terms of interesting new material (similar accusations were targeted at those behind the Amy Winehouse album ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’)
In the meantime, fans of Missy Elliott and Timbaland can enjoy two new tracks ‘Triple Threat’ and ‘9th Inning’, released on Monday (September 17, 2012).
"Fade to Black" presents the show itself -- with guest appearances by Beyonce (Jay-Z's highly publicized girlfriend), Mary J. Blige, Ghostface Killah (from the Wu-Tang Clan) and Missy Elliot -- as well as behind-the-scenes footage during the making of the album.
