Miley Cyrus has been hit by the force of the pen yet again after indie singer Sufjan Stevens wrote an open letter addressed to the most talked about star of the moment, to add to the acerbic words she already received from Sinead O'connor. However, instead of attacking Miley's look, perma-tongue or annoying twerk trademark dance style, Sufjan took issue with the grammar in her latest song, 'Get It Right.'

"Dear Miley. I can't stop listening to #GetItRight (great song, great message, great body)," writes Sufjan: so far so good. But he then adds "maybe you need a quick grammar lesson. One particular line causes concern: "I been laying in this bed all night long." Miley, technically speaking, you've been LYING, not LAYING, an irregular verb form that should only be used when there's an object, i.e. "I been laying my tired booty on this bed all night long." Take note, Miley.

The serious and earnest tone in which the open letter is written on Sufjan's blog belies the humor of the post and it's hard to tell whether he's trolling the young singer (he probably is). He writes "We all make mistakes, and surely this isn't your worst misdemeanor. But also, Miley, did you know the tense here is also totally wrong. Surely you've heard of Present Perfect Continuous Tense (I HAVE BEEN LYING in this bed all night long [hopefully getting some beauty sleep?])."

A Bit Of A Crush? Sufjan Confesses His Love For The "Queen."

Things then get a bit philosophical: "It's a weird, equivocal, almost purgatorial tense, not quite present, not quite past, not quite here, not quite there. Somewhere in between. I feel that way all the time. It kind of sucks. But I have a feeling your "present perfect continuous" involves a lot more excitement than mine."

If Miley had ever wanted to receive a thoughtfully-penned love note from a doting admirer, this is probably the closest she'd going to get. Sufjan confesses his 'feelings' for the 'We Can't Stop' pop singer, saying "Miley, I love you because you're the Queen, grammatically and anatomically speaking. And you're the hottest cake in the pan. Don't ever grow old. Live brightly before your fire fades into total darkness. XXOO Sufjan."

This Right Here; This Is What Sticks In People's Craw.

Miley shot to controversial prominence after her MTV VMAs performance at the end of August where she sang, danced, and ground upon Robin Thicke whilst people dressed as stuffed bears lolloped around her.

Miley's strong public image, wild activities and controversial music videos prompted Irish singer Sinead O'Connor to write an open letter on her website, that read: "I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way 'cool' to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos."

Will There Be A Sufjan/Miley Collaboration In The Future?

Seems like everyone has an opinion on Miley's antics of late: even UK Prime Minister David Cameron has thrown his two cents in, saying Miley is a "bad role model" for his 9 year-old daughter. Who will be next? Kim Jong-un?
