Miley Cyrus has been mourning the loss of her dog Floyd who died unexpectedly yesterday whilst she was on tour. Describing Floyd’s passing as ‘the second worst day of my life’ Miley paid tribute to the pooch during her Boston concert last night with a tearful rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide. When the news broke #RIPFLOYD trended on Twitter and Miley’s fans have been paying their condolences to the devastated singer. It’s clear that the loveable pup held a special place in the singer’s heart, so in memory of Floyd we take a look back and the pair’s special relationship.

Miley got her Alaskan Klee Kai (or miniature Husky as their sometimes known), Floyd in 2011 when he was just a puppy. Miley, who was dating Liam Hemsworth at the time, immediately bonded with the pup and tweeted at the time, ‘I'm so in love with him it is ridiculous. His name is Floyd :)’. Whilst every mother knows that you’re not allowed to have a favorite, Miley seemed particularly fond of the extremely cute pooch and loved to show him off for the cameras. The singer and her four legged companion were regularly spotted out together on jog and walks and he even liked to accompany Miley on her shopping trips.

Followers of Miley’s Twitter and Instagram will be no stranger to Floyd, who often featured in her candid snaps. Floyd was seen relaxing with the singer, helping her get out of bed when she was sick and even laying asleep on top of her Chanel bag. Floyd was such a star in front of the camera Miley even considered breaking him into modelling, but confessed she was scared she’d ‘turn into one of those crazy stage moms’, if he ever ended up in front of the camera professionally. Last year Miley celebrated Floyd’s second birthday, telling the world, ‘happy 2nd Birthday to the most beautiful boy in the whole wide world, Floyd,’ via twitter.

The Bangerz singer is known as an avid dog lover. She owns four other pups, including Happy, Bean and a rescue dog named Mary Jane, Tragically in 2012 she was left devastated when her puppy Lila was killed accidentally by her other dog, Ziggy. At the time Miley tweeted, ‘my heart has never been so broken,’ Ziggy was eventually adopted by a home with no other pets or children.

Miley is sure to be mourning the passing of Floyd for some time and the cause of the beloved pet’s death is still not known. For now we all send our condolences to Miley, who is obviously taking the news very hard and hope she can get back to her usual fun self sooner rather than later. For now #RIPFLOYD, you sure were the cutest pooch on Instagram.
