Michael Chiklis has joined the cast of American Horror Story.

The announcement was made during the final night of PaleyFest in which the last season of American Horror Story: Coven, was celebrated. Other cast members appear to be thrilled at the prospect of working alongside Chiklis, none more so than Evan Peters who will play his son on the upcoming season.

We know little so far of the upcoming series of American Horror Story. Creator Ryan Murphy revealed earlier this month that the fourth season of the show will be set in Jupiter, Florida in 1950 and will be centred on a freak show. The setting was a fan favourite following the finale of Coven in January of this year. However, as the show has already covered an incredibly haunted house, a lunatic asylum and a boarding school for witches, fans were concerned as to where the show would go next.

All the usual suspects will be back for the fourth season. Jessica Lange will once again take the lead and is reportedly a German "Marlene Dietrich" style character who manages one of the last remaining Freak Shows in the 1950s US. Sarah Paulson, who alongside Lange and Peters, has starred in all three seasons of the show has once again been cast in the upcoming series. Peters and his fiancée Emma Roberts are also set to return. Kathy Bates, who appeared in American Horror Story: Coven as serial killer Madame LaLaurie, will also be returning.

Chiklis is set to join the cast as Peters' father and the former husband of Bates' character. Chiklis and Peters are already making jokes about their upcoming roles on Twitter with Chiklis adding a picture of the pair together with the caption "Son! I couldn't be more proud". Whilst Peters gushed he is "pumped" Chiklis and Bates are going to play his parents.
