With Spring and Summer 2017 set up for their extensive North American dates, Metallica have finally announced the schedule for the European leg of their WorldWired Tour which will take them into 2018. Also, they reveal support from the Norwegian band Kvelertak.

MetallicaMetallica announce their European tour dates

Following their show at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada, Metallica will journey to Denmark to play their postponed gig from February 5th at Copenhagen's Royal Arena on September 2nd 2017, with Aphyxion as the special guest.

The first date from their newly announced itinerary finds them in the Netherlands doing a two-night show at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on September 4th. They'll then hit countries the likes of France, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Sweden before concluding at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki on May 11th 2018, their second date at the venue in the Finnish capital. Plus, they'll be doing two nights at London's O2 Arena in October 22nd and 24th 2017, as well as shows in Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.

Metallica don't plan to add any further dates to this tour, which is in support of their latest album 'Hardwired... To Self-Destruct', released in November 2016. Co-produced by Greg Fidelman - with whom the band worked on their 2008 album 'Death Magnetic' and their 2011 collaboration with Lou Reed 'Lulu' - the record sold more than 800,000 in its opening week and peaked at number one in the US with a number two spot in the UK.
