Who hasn't dreamed of the day we'd get to year 'Year 3000' and 'Five Colours In Her Hair' on the same stage?
Suppress your squeals! Calling all fans of early millennial guitar pop: two of your favourite bands, Busted and McFly, are combining to form one powerful supergroup. The inventively named McBusted will be touring the UK next year with tickets on sale this Friday from 9pm.
Dougie, Tom, Danny & Harry Will Take On Two More Members For A UK Tour...
The line-up will consist of the entire McFly crew, Tom Fletcher, Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones and Harry Judd, as well as Matt Willis and James Bourne from the original Busted line-up.
Of course, it would be Charlie Simpson who wasn't down with one of the most exciting supergroup formations of a generation. The former Busted guitarist was the catalyst for the Busted split in 2005 when he decided to leave to pursue heavier music with his rock band, Fightstar, and more recently his solo career.
James Bourne [L] And Matt Willis [R] Are In.
However, Simpson did wish his former companions the best of luck with their McBusted ventures. He tweeted: "Just wanted to say that though I am not joining @mattjwillis and @JamesBourne on their new venture, I wish them all the very best with it!"
Find out what Matt Willis is up to these days.
Back in 2004, both bands vied for prime position both in the charts and in newsagents on the cover of tween gossip magazines and they were widely considered rivals by their fans. However, the formation of McBusted shows their unified drive to keep guitar pop alive in the face of the synth-driven mainstream music of today.
Sadly, Charlie Simpson's Not In.
A tweet sent from the new @McBusted Twitter page read: "The rumours are true... #McBusted" fuelling a great deal of excitement from those eager to relive "the good old days." Emma Willis, the soon-to-be host of The Voice and wife of Matt, hosted the press conference today where the boys announced that they will hit the road for an arena tour in April and May next year, according to the Mirror.
