Ki'Anthony Tyus, nine, was playing basketball with friends at a Louisville, Kentucky park when he was shot in the leg by an unknown gunman. Tyus underwent surgery and had a rod placed in his leg.

He was released from hospital on Sunday (21Jun15) and came home to a surprise visitor.

Master P, real name Percy Miller, was in town for a local basketball charity event, and heard about Tyus, who was eager to speak to the Make 'Em Say Uhh hitmaker on the phone.

However the rapper decided to surprise the young fan and showed up at Tyus' house on Sunday, and surprised him with a new pair of basketball sneakers to use when he fully recovers from his injury.

Master P tells local news station WDRB that he didn't hesitate to visit Tyus, knowing he could help make a positive impact on his life, saying, "I got kids in my family that’s dead or incarcerated at a young age, and we're here to help the kids. And we hope we can change this and let this be an example that we're killing our kids, and it's our future."

Police in Louisville are still investigating the shooting incident.
