However, speaking at the Television Association Critics summer press tour this week, Hawley confirmed that the second season would feature an entirely new setting, story and characters though they will be connected to the 'Fargo' world. Season two will take place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1979.

Switched on fans of season one may have seen this coming. An exchange between Lou and Malvo over a deadly massacre went something like this:

"Bodies?" Malvo inquired.

"Yes sir, one after another," Lou replied. "Probably if you stacked them high, could've climbed to the second floor. I saw something that year I ain't ever seen before or ever since. I'd call it animal except animals only kill for food.Sioux Falls, ever been?"

"If you were paying attention to [the first season] we made a lot of references to Sioux Falls," Hawley confirmed this week.
