“Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage of almost six years,” the rep said in a statement. “It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways, and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time.”

The news of the couple’s split was first reported by RadarOnline who claim Moore filled a divorce petition in Los Angeles on Friday, citing irreconcilable differences. The actress is said to be seeking spousal support, while the date of their separation was ‘to be determined’.

Mandy and Ryan have always kept their relationship private, with Adams refusing to speak about his wife in interviews. During an interview with a Melbourne radio station back in September the singer hung up after being questioned about their relationship.

Speaking about the incident to Buzzfeed, the 40 year old said, "Okay, so I just hung up because I was on the radio getting asked about my wife. I was really nice about it the first time, and I'm sorry, but I won't repeat myself. The deal is this: I'm a private person and I'll be a gentleman and say I'm not talking about my marriage ever. I'll never talk about it. Ever."
