The actress portrayed Graham's daughter on the critically acclaimed TV drama Parenthood for six seasons, and now she has signed up to make a cameo on the new instalment of Gilmore Girls, which centres on another mother/daughter team.

According to TVLine, Whitman is slated to share a small yet "really fun" moment with Graham in the four-part revival for Internet streaming service Netflix.

Their Parenthood and Gilmore Girls worlds collided last June (15) at the ATX Television in Austin, Texas, where Graham and her Gilmore Girls daughter Alexis Bledel reunited with most of the cast, and Whitman was also there to participate in a separate event.

Graham took the opportunity to introduce her former onscreen daughters to each other for the first time, and Whitman posted a photo of their meeting on Instagram.

"AT LONG LAST WE MEET #drawyourswords #breaktheinternet," Whitman wrote.

She later assured fans they were on friendly terms by posting a follow-up snap of them smiling and hugging, adding the caption, "JK (just kidding) YALL!!!! We decided to adopt each other!!!"

Whitman also admitted to Us Weekly at the ATX TV Festival that she and Graham have such a bond offscreen that it's difficult for her to imagine her being a mum to anyone else.

"I get so protective when Lauren Graham has any other TV kids. I see Alexis Bledel and my heart goes into a seizure," she confessed.

Stars Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Matt Czuchry, Milo Ventimiglia, Jared Padalecki, Sean Gunn, and Keiko Agena, among others, are all set to star in the Netflix revival, which is currently filming in Los Angeles.

A release date for the new series has not yet been set.
