The '12 Years A Slave' Oscar-winning actress is reportedly reading for the part of a major female role in the next instalment of the sci-fi film franchise.
Lupita Nyong'o Is Next Star To Be In Talks For 'Star Wars: Episode 7' Role Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o has allegedly had several meetings for a 'Star Wars: Episode 7' role. The Mexican-born actress has been meeting with director J.J. Abrams this past month to read for a major female role, Latino-Review reports.
Nyong'o with her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress
Sources have also indicated that Lupita hasn't signed on to the film as of yet, but she is very close to.
The 30 year-old might be reading for the role of a sith, as her character doesn't seem to be tied into the family lines from episode 4-6, the report also states.
This could be an even bigger part for Nyong'o than her career defining role in Steve McQueen's '12 Years A Slave'.
Astonishingly she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in her first ever movie role, as Nyong'o portrayed a tormented and abused slave called 'Patsy' in the adaptation of Solomon Northup's memoir.
The Latino-Review also tried to contact Lupita's reps for any comments on the rumoured role, but their response was simply, "We're not allowed to talk about that."
As far as the public's knowledge is concerned, there has only been one casting role filled, and that is the villain in 'Episode 7.'
'Girls' actor Adam Driver has reportedly took this spot, and as predicated no further information is known, but his character will shadow the sci-fi franchise's most notable villain, Darth Vader.f
Driver will play the villian
Driver beat out the likes of Michael Fasbender and Joel Kinnaman, who were also allegedly tested.
Although the project is being kept under wraps, the die-hard fans already know Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, who also penned 'Star Wars: Episode V' and 'Episode VI', have completed the script.
Gary Oldman confirmed to receiving a call from director Abrams to discuss a possible role in the revived iconic sci-fi film series. "I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done, but yeah, they've inquired," he said at the time.
Zac Efrom also revealed he has held talks with the production team about possibly starring in the space epic.
The 26 year-old told MTV News, "I just went and met with them. So I don't know. It would be cool. I love [the Star Wars movies], I love them, but. who knows?"
Abrams has publically confirmed to have had discussions with Jesse Plemons, who is rumoured to have the lead, about a role in the film, although no additional information was released.
