Luke Perry had supposedly died, according to false online rumours. Beverly Hills 90210 star Luke Perry was reported to have died in Switzerland whilst snowboarding, but this has now been confirmed as a mere hoax.
The news of his supposed death, announced by Global Associated News hit social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The reports had suggested that Perry had reportedly lost control of his snowboard and crashed into a tree. He had then been air lifted to a local hospital but had initially died upon impact. Rumours were rife until eventually a spokesperson for the 46-year-old actor confirmed that the story was untrue. According to The Celebrity Cafe, the representative stated: "He's very much alive. The last thing he'd be doing is snowboarding in Zermatt." E! Online were then further quick to dismiss the online rumours. However this is not the first time a star has been in the middle of a hoax set up by the news site. Actors Brad Pitt and Taylor Lautner had recently been reported as having died in New Zealand, whilst Charlie Sheen and Owen Wilson had reportedly also died in Switzerland.
Luke Perry, after playing the heartthrob Dylan MCKay in 90210 for ten years, has appeared in various stage productions of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' and 'When Harry Met Sally'. Perry is currently filming alongside Kim Coates for the thriller 'Soho'.
