Rumours of a ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ reboots are swirling, but Lucy Lawless says she’s not involved.
‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ actress Lucy Lawless has once again shot down any rumours that she might be involved in a reboot of the classic series. Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour this week, the 47 year old sadly confessed, ‘if there’s anything current going on, we’re not involved.’
Lucy Lawless has said she’s not involved in a ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ reboot.
“There was a conversation a year ago that Rob [Tapert] was involved in but that didn’t happen,” Lawless added. “They could be doing it without us. They have the right to, don’t they? I’d love to see it happen, and I know that NBC wants to do it but they’re just trying to find a way and a time…”
“People still want that core friendship and I think whenever they reboot it, they have to get two women who really like and respect [each other] to carry that mantle,” the actress added. “In whatever world you set it in, I think the friendship is what they’re underestimating.”
Of course the friendship Lawless was referring to was the one between Xena and her traveling companion Gabrielle, played by Renee O’Connor. But these two weren't just the best of friends onscreen.
The duo also remained close once the show ended and on Thursday Lawless posted a pic of the pair hanging out together on Instagram. ‘Still hanging with my gal #Reneeoconnor @reallucylawless #xena #gabrielle,’ Lawless captioned the pic. Aww, now we just want Lucy back as Xena with Renee as Gabrielle even more!
