Following the shocking news of The Lost Prophets singer, Ian Watkins, being charged with several extreme sex offences, the band have pulled their website and issued a statement.

"Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock," reads the statement on the band's website, which is now devoid of any other content. "We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers. Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu."

Watkins was named in a South Wales Police statement yesterday. "A Pontypridd man has been charged with sexual offences against children and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court today," a spokesperson said following the arrested. "The 35-year-old has been charged with conspracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children. In order to assist in their investigation, South Wales Police has named the man as Ian Watkins, a member of the rock group Lostprophets."

Watkins was yesterday refused bail, along with his two co-accused, who are 20 and 24 respectively, and both female. The Lost Prophets, since bursting onto the stage after a 1997 formation, have sold a whopping 3.5 million albums. However, given the allegations, it's unlikely their reputation will remain untarnished regardless of the outcome.
