Rock 'n' roll icon Little Richard told of his ongoing hip problems as he played through the pain onstage at a Washington, D.C. gig on Saturday (16Jun12).
The Tutti Frutti singer opened his show at the historic Howard Theatre by confessing he has been in constant agony since surgery on his hip in 2009.
He told the crowd, "I got sick and I had surgery. And the hip broke inside of me. And you know they've never been able to get that hip out of me yet? It's been in me almost three years and it hurts day and night. I'm in pain 24 hours a day. I never let them cut nothing out of me."
Despite his health problems, Little Richard proved the show must go on by performing a full hour-and-a-half set at the gig, according to Rolling Stone.
The concert was one of only a handful he has played in recent years.
