Lisa Hannigan's new single, Safe Travels (Don't Die) is the third to be taken from her second album, Passenger, following on from Home and Knots, the latter of which was released in September 2011.
Passenger was recorded in Wales and produced by US legend Joe Henry who's worked with Solomon Burke and Loudon Wainwright.
In her native Ireland, Passenger was the only album to knock off Adele from the top spot and even now, Passenger remains in the Top 10. Her debut album, Sea Sew, was released in 2009 and earned rave reviews. Sea Sew was also nominated for a number of awards, including the Choice Music Prize and Best Irish Album at the Meteor Music Awards.
Lisa Hannigan's voice may be recognisable to some people: from 2001 to 2007 she performed with fellow Irish singer songwriter Damien Rice and his band. Her vocals can be heard on the 2007 single, 9 Crimes, which was featured in the popular animated sequel, Shrek The Third.
Lisa recently completed a successful tour on the US, where she was interviewed on the show The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. She also toured the UK throughout the autumn, finishing at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on November 30th, 2011.
