Alternative funk two-piece from New York Lion Babe have opened up about their 'empowering' new single 'Wonder Woman', produced by Pharrell Williams. The duo admit it's all about becoming a role model for young women in the world.
Lion Babe to release new single 'Wonder Woman' in May 2015
Rising stars Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman are set to unveil their highly anticipated debut album soon, and have already presented us with a little taster in the form of 'Wonder Woman', with whom they worked alongside multi-award winning 'Happy' hitmaker Pharrell Williams. The video is equally as exciting, featuring Jillian acting out her band's namesake, voluminous curls at their max.
Lucas admitted in an interview that it was 'pretty amazing' to get the chance to work with Pharrell, who he dubs a 'huge inspiration', while Jillian admits the song's an old favourite of hers. 'We pretty much wrote it, like, a year ago now but we wanted to have the album done and it always felt like a big song, just a great vibe and super empowering', she explained. 'For me, I always think of my little sister whenever I'm writing anything and for her I just want to feel like a wonder woman. I think girls need to be told that all the time.'
Lion Babe started causing some serious excitement with the release of their self-titled debut EP, and their subsequent singles 'Treat Me Like Fire' and 'Jump Hi' have been making a huge impact overseas on UK radio. Meanwhile, the pair travelled to Austin, Texas earlier this year for some stunning performances at SXSW 2015.
They are set to hit the UK again though in May, with a tour scheduled alongside Swedish singer-songwriter Seinabo Sey. They have also just been added to Brighton's The Great Escape Festival, which takes place from May 14th - 16th.
'Wonder Woman' is set for release as a single on May 3rd 2015.
