A ridiculous report doing the rounds this week suggested Lindsay Lohan - fresh out of rehab and fresh off the back of one positive review for The Canyons - would be cast in Ben Affleck's new crime drama Live by Night, for Warner Bros.

The guys over at Showbiz 411 said that Lohan was "this close" to signing on for the movie, though industry insider The Wrap has done a bit of digging and learned there's absolutely no truth in the story. Presumably, Affleck spat out his lunch when he heard the rumors and got onto his PR people to make this rumor go away, very very quickly.

"It's NOT true. She will not be cast in any role in the movie. She is not being considered for any role in the movie. She won't be in the movie," said the Hollywood insider, which makes it pretty, pretty clear that Affleck wants Lohan nowhere near his film.

Based on the novel of the same name by 'Mystic River' author Dennis Lehane, 'Live By Night' chronicles the rise of a gangster named Joe Coughlin in prohibition-era Boston, who is imprisoned before starting his life again in Florida. There, he is caught up between two rival gangs and two separate women.

So far, the only casting decision to Affleck in the lead role, though there's plenty of strong roles available. According to Word and Film, Graciela Corrales is a young Cuban ex-pat whom Joe meets and falls for in Florida. She's "fearless" and "involved in business," and we really really hope the Lindsay Lohan rumor wasn't anything to do with this part. It's gotten Eva Mendes written all over it.

Elsewhere, there's the part of Joe's father, Thomas Coughlin, which Alec Baldwin has been linked to and Joe's nemesis Albert White.

Lohan is currently starring alongside James Deen in Paul Schrader's The Canyons, written by Bret Easton Ellis.

Before Live by Night, Ben Affleck will star opposite Rosamund Pike in David Fincher's Gone Girl.
