Lindsay Lohan is ''lonely and needs friends''.
The 'Mean Girls' actress reportedly recently met up with an Uber driver in Santa Monica, California for lunch because she is so desperate to hang out with people.
One driver said: ''We chatted all day while I drove her around Los Angeles. A few weeks later she let me a voice mail, and we went out to eat in Santa Monica. It wasn't romantic, she is just lonely and needs friends.''
He also told Star magazine: ''We hugged good-by and since then I haven't heard from her, but she was great company.''
An insider previously claimed the 29-year-old star came up with a list of 100 toxic friends to cut out of her life after seeking treatment in rehab in 2013.
Lindsay has been out of the spotlight over the last few months, spending the summer travelling across Europe, including enjoying a few weeks in Mykonos, Greece with some of her wealthy friends, like film producer Mohammed Al Turki.
Prior to her travels, Lindsay said living and working in London had given her an opportunity to make a fresh start.
Speaking in June, she said: ''I'm in a really good place. I'm blessed to have been able to do a play in London and start a different way of life.
''New York is very fast-paced, and it's not like that over here for me. You grow up and change, and I'm really happy about that, as overall I feel a lot better.''
